3:15 pm to 6:30 pm
Legal Updates (Ted Daus)
Classroom The training will include 3 HOURS of legal updates relevant to the current K9 handler.
​
3:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Optional for Patrol:
Location – Fire Tower, Tedder
Problem Solving Station: The K9 Team will work through issues that have been
identified by the handler. The team will receive training and drills to work on the issues.
​
6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Lunch on your own and travel to next training sites
​
7:30 pm to 1:00 am
Patrol – Location: Spaulding’s
Field work will include a multitude of problem solving scenarios. Training will be focused
on Building Searches, Vehicle Deployments, Tactical Searches, and Distance K9 sends/call outs.
​
Detection – Location: Spokane Training Academy
Field work will include a multitude of problem-solving scenarios. Training will be focused
on interior building searches and packages. Environmental factors will include dark
rooms, slick floors, and high finds.

Wednesday - May 22, 2019

Travel to Training Locations

Detection – Location: Spaulding’s
Field work will include a multitude of problem solving scenarios. Training will be focused vehicle
searches, both interior and exterior.

4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Patrol – Location: Spokane Training Academy
Instruction: Tactical First Aid and how it pertains to the working K9 in the field.
​
6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Patrol - Location: Same
Instruction: This block of instruction will include scenarios held within the shoot house. There will be
a night shoot and an officer down scenario.

Thursday - May 23, 2019

3:15 pm to 5:15 pm
Classroom #1 – Dangers of Fentanyl (Gary Creed)
This class will address the dangers of working around Fentanyl. It will also cover the possible exposure risk
and the current trends that are happening.
​
Classroom #2 – Tactical Tracking Debrief (Jeff Barrett)
This class will address the deployment of a K9 team in during a major critical incident. It will address
successes during the deployment and the moments leading up to the death of a handler and K9.
​
5:30 pm to 6:00 pm
Idaho Police K9 Association Meeting. This meeting will cover concerns of the group from last year and
address any upcoming issues.
Free pizza and drinks will be provided

6:00 pm to 6:45 pm
Travel to Training Locations

6:45 pm to 1:00 am
Detection: Location: Auction Yard (Spokane County)
Field Work: Night of 100 vehicles. This night will provide the K9 team with an opportunity to work on as
many vehicles scenarios as they can handle. The scenarios will include interior and exterior searches.
It will also include black vehicles.
​
Patrol: Location: Greyhound, Tedder
Instruction will include a multitude of problem-solving scenarios. Primary focus will include K9 tactics
and moving in teams.
